On the contrary, the historically equally belligerent French and German tend towards more philosophical an atmosphere in a film. The Americans word for unceasing, boring and meaningless aggression seems to be “action”. In a scenario, “action” is directly connected to killing: anything goes. A “normal” American movie mutated from bloody computer game into one hour of incessant guaranteed non-stop “action” along with a pause for an erotic scene. Eroticism must be a thing of a past, if it happened at all: serving as a milder but equally deadly fighting scene: sex as cold weapon, as it were. Thus, life is constant fighting, shooting first and asking questions later: but “later” does not exist as the next scene must be equally bloody much as the previous one. No time to think, unthink or god forbid stop thinking : the organism must constantly be in a predatory state of alert.
