An important article for understanding the anti-Peripatetic movement in Islamic thought. It is characteristic of the new trend in scholarship away from viewing classical Islamic philosophy in the framework of Latin scholasticism and its debates, a trend still extant in the work of Frank Griffel, Deborah Black et al. Instead, the author considers developments in Arab science as the proper framework for reflection upon the problems we texts of Muslim philosophy.
