ABSTRACT In this paper we propose a means of attaining confidentiality of information broadcasted to child nodes from cluster heads (CH) and also information sent from the cluster heads to the Base Station (BS). One of the main mechanisms used for this purpose is encryption and decryption but due to resource constraints of the sensor nodes these mechanism may affect their performance and increase the computational complexity of the nodes. This research however is focused on finding an appropriate encryption and decryption algorithm which is most suitable for providing confidential communication in a wireless sensor network.
