Italian Green Design

IGD originates from the desire of forming a professional association which ensures highly qualified advice and architectural and urban design in the environmental sphere, combining the know-how acquired in around twenty years of work in the fields of bioclimatic architecture and renewable energy and the use of scientific instruments such as simulation and control. The founding associates, Federico Butera, Marco Sala and Ettore Zambelli, have developed in the last decades many architectural and research projects in collaboration with Italian and international Research Centres and Design Practices, merging their professional practices with scientific research and experimenting new dwelling and technological models which reduce their impact on the environment where they are located and for which they were designed. IGD has promoted many research and design projects in collaboration with Public Administrations (Italian and international) and has advanced experimental projects financed by the European Community. The problems derived from the growing cost of energy, an irreversible phenomenon totally out of control, can be partially limited and partially solved in the building field with a very careful control during the preliminary design phases, thanks to a correct integration between technology and architecture, with the constant aim of letting the environmental and economic advantages of specific energetic strategies choices emerge even during the phases of use and maintenance of the building system. The issues of sustainability, rational use of energy, exploitation of renewable energies are by now a collective interest and have become part of a contemporary new way of life tuned onto environmental issues which cross all economical fields and is common to all industrialised countries. The specialised know-how acquired thanks to an intense professional activity has permitted IGD to form new sustainable approach systems which can be employed at all scales of urban and architectural intervention: from the phase of preliminary design to the one of programming to the detail design. The integrated bioclimatic approach, developed in many years of experience, has allowed: - the optimisation of the design phases, - a stronger environmental quality in the developed projects, - access to national and international incentives for energy saving, - the promotion of a model of “ecological marketing” which can be applied to the whole project, from its design to its completion. Being able to count on a highly qualified staff of professionals which have acquired their experience in the fields of bioclimatic architecture and energy saving permits IGD to assure the possibility of interacting directly with all the necessary consultants and technicians for the correct development of the design, optimising times and costs of elaboration and realisation in comparison to traditional design models.
