"Kandlam Tandam Toram" (otherwise called "The Wisher's Secret") is a stream-of-consciousness story that embarks on a journey of thought, as the narrator seems to be pursued by a persistent, unresolved fear. During his journey to find his answers, he visits with a mysterious, quick-witted and intellectually sharp woman in black, who helps him, here and there, to see the error of his ways. Featuring, near the end, an in-depth discussion of the fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf", this story can also be considered to be the third part in the series of stories that began with "Into the Catacombs", followed by "A Dance with Boredom".
