(katuray) Sesbania sesban (L.) Merr. Sesbania grandiflora (L.) Pers.

Sesbania sesban and Sesbania grandiflora are important agroforestry species. The Genus is within the family Leguminosea and therefore they have the ability to improve soil through the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen. The original home of these species is open to conjecture but S. seban is thought to be native to Egypt. It has the common name of Egyptian pea or River hemp.
