Kerr Microscopy

This is a laboratory report on Kerr Microscopy. The experiment was performed at the UPMC university in Paris as part of the NANOMAT program. The laboratory course gives an introduction to the magneto-optical Kerr effect and the Faraday effect in application to microscopic imaging of magnetic materials. In particular the ferrimagnetic hysteresis of GdPrBi3(FeAl)5O12 grown on a Gd3Ga5O12 garnet is measured. Besides, the macroscopic Faraday effect is observed and the exchange constant is determined.
