Liberty

Liberty is often declared but is only observed in the breech. The creation of the modern nation state at the end of the 19th Century has subjugated the rights of the individual in favour of the rights of the group. From the moment of one's birth one is placed in the box of ethnicity, religion, social stratification and family. I argue that Liberty is not some ephemeral ideal but an essential part of comprehending one's role and purpose in the world.
