Malaysian federalism

Malaysian federalism is relatively young since it was formally established in 1948 during the British colonial rule and gained its Independence in 1957. Kelantan, a federal unit in the Malaysian Federation, has always been at the centre of attention in the development of Malaysian federalism for the past fifty years. In the period between year 1957 to 2014, Kelantan has been ruled by a party different from the ruling party at the centre for more than three decades
