Remembering Vietnam

In 1968, the American involvement in the Vietnam war would soon reach it’s peak. Many men would be sent, including Larry D. Martin, my grandfather. Being only 19, he was not raised as a fighter, but a farmer boy. Times were tough, and his family would work hard just to survive in the old time south. Farming was all he knew, until now. The Army calls him up and soon he finds out that he’d be leaving the southeast and heading for San Antonio, Texas for basic training, to become a medic. As he left, he’d have to say goodbye to his little sweetheart in whom he had just got engaged to, not knowing his country would need him.
