The Finite Element Method (FEM) is among one of the very popular numerical techniques to solve a variety of problems in many disciplines. It relies on partitioning the problem-domain into several disjoint domains of simple geometry and solves the problem in an approximate manner in these simple geometrical domains to synthesise a complete answer. Herein, in an effort to further extend its capability, we propose to use wavelets that gives rise to a hierarchical and multiresolution structure to the solution. Further, it allows for better accuracy for same computational effort. To illustrate the methodology, we make use of a simple p-n junction problem in one dimension and also a simple coaxial cable problem.
